A.I.D. serves as a liaison between people who need assistance and agencies that
can provide it. Volunteers answer phones 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Monday through Friday,
putting callers in contact with governmental programs, local public assistance agencies
or private groups. A.I.D. can arrange transportation for medical visits.
American Red Cross: Stark County Chapter

American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that helps people prevent, prepare
for and respond to emergencies, such as fires, tornadoes or natural disasters. It
is the largest provider of blood products for the U.S. Health; provides safety training
to businesses, organizations and individuals; and is the link between the military
and their families.
Arthritis Foundation - Northeastern Ohio Chapter

Arthritis Foundation provides education and exercise programs for people diagnosed
with arthritis and related diseases. Services in Columbiana County include aquatic
and land-based exercise, arthritis and fibromyalgia self-help courses, free education
literature and public education forums.
Boy Scouts of America - Buckeye Council

Scouting programs for boys and young men and women through age 21 build character,
teach responsibility and participation, and promote citizenship and personal fitness.
Programs emphasize development of values and building of leadership skills that

Camp Fire offers local school-age boys and girls the opportunity to gain new knowledge
and skills through community service, special interests and decision-making. Members
learn skills to help them become productive, caring individuals. Participation focuses
on protecting the environment, learning about the community and the world, and valuing
individual differences and similarities.
Catholic Charities Regional Agency

Catholic Charities provides individual, marital and family counseling, grief counseling,
crisis intervention, and adoption services. The agency supports Christina House
– Lisbon for domestic violence victims in need of shelter and collaborates with
other agencies to provide services to families, including emergency assistance,
legal advocacy for victims and supervised visitation.
Christians' Concern of Leetonia

Christians’ Concerns of Leetonia provides emergency funds to help pay utility, rent,
and prescription drug and doctor bills, and sometimes transportation expenses for
residents in need in the Leetonia Exempted School District, including Washingtonville.
Pastoral visits to individuals are available on request.
Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels

Meals are provided to elderly, handicapped, convalescing and homebound individuals
in Columbiana, Washingtonville, Leetonia and Crestview areas regardless of their
ability to pay. Volunteers prepare and deliver one hot and one cold meal per day
up to five days per week.
Family Recovery Center

Family Recovery provides comprehensive outpatient clinical and prevention/education
services in substance use and abuse, mental health and other high-risk areas. Through
counseling programs and education services for schools, courts, employees and the
region, the Center’s programs promote individual, family and community wellness
by promoting healthy lifestyle choices to achieve a stable living environment.
Girl Scouts of North East Ohio

leaders through positive peer networks and adult role models. Girl Scouts programming

Habit for Humanity of Northern Columbiana County

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian ministry organization that builds homes in northern
Columbiana County. Volunteers construct houses using donated materials and charitable
contributions. Homes are sold at cost to carefully selected partner families who
have been living in substandard housing and who donate 500 hours of sweat equity.
Financial responsibility and successful home ownership counseling is provided.

Home Care Advantage provides all types of non-skilled, affordable personal care
and housekeeping services, as well as errands enabling people of all ages to be
cared for at home. Respite care for family care providers is available. It is a
not for profit, private duty agency accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Kin and Kids, formerly part of the Salem Y.W.C.A. and now affiliated with Family Recovery Center, offers a wide array of referral services, peer support, advocacy and activities for grandparents raising their grandchildren.

Serving Columbiana County, the Salem Area Speech and Hearing Clinic provides speech
pathology and audiology therapy by qualified professionals to adults and children
at affordable prices.
R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program)

R.S.V.P. serves as a liaison between charitable, education, health care and non-profit
organizations in Columbiana County and residents age 55 and older who wish to volunteer.
Participants are matched with agencies based on their skills, interests and geographic
location.
Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association

VNA provides a variety of services including home health care, skilled nursing,
home infusion, maternal/child care, physical, occupational and speech therapy, and
nutritional services. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Adult
day care operates weekdays. VNA is Medicare/Medicaid certified and accredited by
the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Salem Worlds War Memorial Building

The Memorial Building, given to the citizens by Salem industrialist W. H. Mullins
in 1924, serves as a senior citizens’ center, recreation center and home to many
clubs, leagues and organizations, including the Salem Parks and Recreations Department,
Columbiana County Office on Aging and the Salem office of the Columbiana County
Health Department.

The Salvation Army provides emergency financial assistance, substance abuse and
counseling services, spiritual support and religious services, and social development
programs. The agency administers a food pantry, and provides assistance for prescription
drugs, and lodging and utilities. Volunteers visit nursing homes, hospitals and
shut-ins. Day camps and summer camps are sponsored. Emergency disaster services
are provided.
Y.M.C.A. Wellness Center of Lisbon (a United Way agency beginning January 1, 2011)

The Y.M.C.A. Wellness Center of Lisbon provides a variety of youth sports and recreation activities, wellness education, and sponsors a Silver Sneakers program.
The Hearing and Speech Center provides interpretive and case management services
for the Deaf population in Columbiana County. Speech pathology and audiology services
for children are provided.
